The Emirates Airline Festival of Literature is the largest literary festival in the Arab world. The festival places homegrown talent at the forefront, offering local fans the chance to meet and interact with world-famous authors and attend literary debates and workshops. The festival’s education outreach program is also open to students, who get the chance to meet their literary heroes.
Launched in 2009, the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature (ELF) started with only 65 authors. Last year, over 181 authors from 40 countries and reached more than 45,000 people. eWoke has teamed up with one of the leading Digital Agencies in Dubai as the development partner for the ELF website and its mobile app.
Technology stack used in this project are: WordPress, as the platform for website; Ionic, as the mobile app platform to work on both iOS and Android devices. It is available for download from the App Store and Google Play.
The website provides all the details about the authors attending the festival, as well as a bespoke user-friendly calendar that showcases the daily program throughout the festival. Attendees can book their seats for selected events using the website booking engine developed in asp.net. The system facilitates direct payment and instant confirmation. The festival mobile app is customized with all the website features and an online seat booking facility.
