Introducing ChatGPT Atlas: The Smart Browser That Thinks With You

ChatGPT Atlas is a new web browser with ChatGPT built-in.  Available for macOS for Free, Plus, Pro, and Go users worldwide, and in beta for Business users.  With ChatGPT embedded into your browser, you can obtain help from anywhere on the internet.  To get started, go to chatgpt.com/atlas and download the Atlas.  You may import your saved passwords, bookmarks, and browsing history from another browser.

Here are some of our key features available in Atlas.

New tab page

Ask ChatGPT a question or enter a URL to see faster, more useful results in one place.

Smarter searches

To explore more particular types of results outside of the chat, use the search links, pictures, videos, and news tabs (when available).

Ask ChatGPT sidebar

Open ChatGPT sidebar on any page to summarize, analyze, or handle tasks directly in the same window.

In line writing help

Open ChatGPT in any form field to write or update without switching tabs.  To begin, highlight text inside the form field or document and then click the ChatGPT logo.

Browser memories

If you enable browser memories, ChatGPT will remember important facts from your web browsing to improve chat responses and provide wiser suggestions, such as retrieving a webpage you viewed a while ago.  Browser memories are private and under your control.  You can view them all in settings, archive the ones that are no longer relevant, and erase them by clearing your browsing history.  Even with browser memories enabled, you can use the URL bar toggle to specify which sites ChatGPT cannot see.  When visibility is turned off, ChatGPT cannot access the page content and no memories are formed as a result.

Home page suggestions

ChatGPT remembers what you’ve done and recommends what you should do next, whether it’s going back to previous pages, delving further into a topic, exposing similar ideas, or automating routine tasks.

Agent mode (Preview)

Plus, Pro and Business users can now enable agent mode in Atlas, allowing ChatGPT to execute work on your behalf while remaining under your control.  In agent mode, ChatGPT may complete end-to-end tasks for you, such as researching a meal plan, creating an ingredient list, and adding products to a shopping basket for delivery.  You always have control: ChatGPT is programmed to ask before performing many key tasks, and you can pause, interrupt, or take over the browser at any time.

Privacy and data controls

Atlas now allows you to easily control and alter your settings.  You can clear the history of a single page or your whole browsing history.  You can also launch an incognito window in which you are signed out of ChatGPT and no chats or memory is stored to your account.

By default, we do not train our models using the content you browse.  If you prefer to accept this content, you can enable “include web browsing” in your Atlas data controls settings.  If you have enabled chat training in your ChatGPT account, it will be enabled in Atlas as well.  This includes website content attached using the Ask ChatGPT sidebar, as well as browser memory information that influence your talks.

In conclusion, ChatGPT Atlas marks a major step forward in how we browse and interact with the web. By integrating ChatGPT directly into the browser, Atlas transforms everyday internet use into a seamless, intelligent experience offering instant help, smarter searches, and in-line writing support without the need to switch tabs.

With innovative features like browser memories, agent mode, and enhanced privacy controls, users can enjoy both productivity and peace of mind. Whether you’re researching, creating, or managing tasks, ChatGPT Atlas redefines convenience making your browser not just a tool for surfing the web, but a true AI-powered assistant.
